8 Predicted New Technology 2018, Man and Machine More Familiar

New technology 2018 emerging will undoubtedly change the future and will affect the whole human experience in various aspects of life and civilization.

This premise is evident in the research on human and machine relationships conducted by Dell Technologies and the Institute for the Future (IFTF) which sees the impact and implications of technology on society and at work.

This research predicts that the economic ecosystem is entering a new era of human and machine partnerships, and within the timeframe from now until 2030, humans and machines will work more closely together and change the lives of everyone.

Humans have worked with machines for centuries, but the whole new phase is characterized by increased efficiency, unity and greater possibilities than ever before.

New technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and the advancement of Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing technologies – have emerged due to remarkable software, analysis and processing power –improve and speed up those changes.

Here are 8 (eight) predictions Dell Technologies around 2018 technology between human and machine in an official statement received by Tekno Liputan6.com, Saturday (6/1/2019) in Jakarta.

1. AI Will Create New Employment

In the next few years, AI or artificial intelligence will change the way we spend time processing data.

The business world will use AI to perform data-based “thinking tasks” so they can significantly reduce the time spent watching, debating, plotting scenarios and testing every new innovation.

The Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region currently leading innovation of artificial intelligence, will soon see a number of real examples of AI’s benefits in business realities.

Some experts claim that AI will take over human work, but AI can also create new jobs and open new opportunities for human beings.

For example, there will be a new type of IT professional who is specialized in AI training and settings. The APJ area will be the center of these skills, where AI will be a major skill of the workforce in the future.

AI thinking tasks will stand out in the areas of health, agriculture, and financial services. For organizations, the challenge is to prove the business value of AI technology and ensure they have the right infrastructure and human resources.

2. The Smart Life

Beginning 2018, a number of major steps to instill artificial intelligence in near-instant IoT, both artificial intelligence applied in urban, business, housing, and vehicles.

Humans will evolve into a ‘digital conductor’ of technology and the environment around. Technology will serve as an extension of our self. Each object will become smarter and help us enjoy life smarter.

APJ area is the center of innovation and implementation of IoT. The amount of investment will continue to grow and a number of factors such as government initiatives and 5G developments will be great drivers.

Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand are ahead in terms of IoT readiness thanks to these factors.

Nevertheless, the constraints to the success of IoT are the same across the globe, so collaboration is needed to overcome obstacles such as inconsistent standardization, uniform technological conditions, and the need for infrastructure preparation.

3. Real World Limits and AR Will Be Missing

Soon the boundaries between the ‘real’ world and the AR will disappear. AR in the workplace will unite humans, allowing people to interact with data in a way that has never been done before. APJ will be a place of testing these applications, as the region travels master the innovation and application of AR.

VR will transform the entertainment and games industry in the short term, thanks to the integrated experience features offered. AR is also predicted to be a way of maximizing human efficiency and utilizing the growing ‘institutional knowledge’ of labor.

4. Consumers Want More Digital

Dell Technologies’ Digital Transformation Index shows 52 percent of companies in the APJ region believe their companies will go bankrupt in 3-5 years and 83 percent feel threatened by digital startup.

Now is the best time to prioritize customer experience. In the next year, thanks to predictive analytics, Machine Learning (ML) and AI will be a key feature, helping companies better understand and serve their customers when needed or even before they arise.

Consumers in the APJ region are beginning to demand smart and mobile-based digital interaction. They also adopt technology-based interactions such as alternative payment methods. By 2018, various trademarks will be forced to meet these consumer expectations.

5. AI and VR are Needed

In the next ten years, new technologies like VR and AI will help people find and act on information they receive without being influenced by external emotions or prejudices, while still empowering them to apply humanist considerations as needed.

In the short term, AI will be applied in the recruitment and promotion process to sort out bias decisions, whether consciously or unconsciously.

While the VR will be increasingly used as an interview tool to ensure that work is provided to qualified applicants, for example by hiding the identity of the applicant with an avatar.

6. Popular e-Sports

In 2018, a large number of e-Sports players sit behind the scenes or use VR headsets to compete in the world of high-definition computer engineering.

With hundreds of millions of players and spectators watching, e-Sports will become a mainstream game. APJ region began to realize it with e-Sports became one of the official sports event at the Asian Games 2022.

China, Hong Kong and South Korea began to introduce e-Sport with various matches and investments made. Singapore has also started targeting local e-Sport professionals by setting up a training academy to give birth to future champions.

7. Journey to Mega-Cloud

Starting 2018, more and more companies are turning to a multi-cloud approach, taking advantage of the advantages of all cloud models ranging from public to private, hosted, managed and SaaS.

However, as application moves and workloads increase to different types of clouds, cloud gaze expansions are sure to occur, which will hamper the organization’s ability to fully exploit analytics and AI data initiatives.

Organizations in APJ will still face the challenge of managing their IT infrastructure to address current challenges while still considering future applications.

Then the mega cloud will emerge, where this approach will forge a variety of private and private clouds to act as a coherent and holistic system in a cleverly combined display of the entire IT ecosystem.

8. Full Year of Action

In an increasingly connected world, dependence on third parties is growing. Organizations have become highly connected systems whose existence is part of something even greater.

The impact of this chaos spreads farther and farther since technology connects us in extraordinary ways.

Due to an increasingly close relationship between humans and machines, small failures can lead to major failures.

Therefore, this year will be a full year of action for multinational companies, especially with the enactment of new regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will affect all organizations in the APJ region.
